 Frequently Asked Questions

  • Where should I save the model files I've downloaded?
    • The files should be saved in directories corresponding to the headers. That is, any file downloaded from the Servos section should be saved in a folder named Servos.
  • The assembly file keeps asking where to find xxxx file...
    • Assembly files don't include the actual part models needed, they only include links to these files. You will need to look at the Necessary Parts note and make sure you download all the parts in the list to the proper directories.
  • Can you convert these to xxxx format?
    • All of these models were submitted by users on our forums. If you need a specific file format, you'll need to request on the forum, so the creators of the models can take a look. You'll find our forums at http://www.lynxmotion.net.
  • Can Solidworks automatically find the referenced files?
    • Yes. Set it up like this: From the menu, click Tools, then Options. Go to the System tab and find "File Location." From "Show Folders for:" pick "Referenced Documents." Use the Add button to add the paths to the directories you set up when you downloaded the files. Restart Solidworks.
  • There's a problem with xxxx file...
    • All of these models were submitted by users on our forums. If you find a problem, the best thing to do would be to post details on the forum, so the creators of the models can take a look. You'll find our forums at http://www.lynxmotion.net.
  • How can I contribute models or assembly files?
    • Just email your model or assembly file along with a jpeg image and complete list of parts necessary for the assembly to [email protected]. Note, assembly files submitted must be using this directory structure for compatibility!
  • What does this mean?
    • Files highlighted in yellow are new for this update.
