SES-V2 Wiring

The SES V2 system incorporates features to clean up cabling / wiring without restricting access. This page covers the selection of wires, corresponding accessories and proposes several wiring methods.

Specifications

  • LSS Connector: 4-Pin, 2.54mm (0.1") spaced Molex connector #50-37-5043
  • RC Connector: 3-Pin 2.54mm (0.1") spaced JR connector: GND (black); V (red); Signal (yellow); Extra (green) 2.54" (0.1") single pin JR connector from servo Tx pin.
  • LSS Serial Cable: 24 AWG multi-strand, flat ribbon, silicon covered.

For more information regarding the pinout, how to connect the servos and the LSS servo's electronics, refer to the LSS - Electrical page. When purchasing Lynxmotion serial cables, the user does not need to worry about any modifications as all the pins and wires are correct, however, should the LSS be connected to non-Lynxmotion products such as a microcontroller, be certain to understand the pinout before making any connections.

Wire Routing

In a robotic creation, keeping the wires as clean as possible helps ensure they do not get snagged internally or externally. Many V2 brackets include slots where plastic cable clips can be installed in order to more cleanly and securely rout wires. When wiring a custom robotic creation, ensure there is enough slack in the wires to allow for the full range of motion at each joint, and so they do not get snagged. Each clip only allows passage of one 4-wire cable.

Straight vs. Y Serial Cables

Straight serial cables are used to daisy chain multiple LSS servos / modules one after the next. However, with a limit of 3A per cable, additional power may need to be applied and as such, a Y-harness and Power Hub are needed (change the jumper on the Power Hub). A Y-harness can also be used to daisy chain servos when one side of the servo is blocked.
