![]() | SES - Modules The Servo Erector Set (SES) modular building system includes a variety of electronic and electro-mechanical modules. This section provides an overview of each module and links to where you can obtain user guides and more information.. Power and Communication The Lynxmotion Smart Servo (LSS) Adapter Board is an electronic board which allows for easy configuration and control of the Lynxmotion Smart Servos. The board includes a variety of features and functionality and provides power distribution via six LSS six connectors. The board is intended to be powered from a LiPo battery through the on-board male XT60 connector, or with a wall adapter with a female XT60 connector. There are many ways to interface with this board, including USB, Arduino (shield compatible), Bee socket and more . The LSS Power Hub provides a simple solution to supply power to and communicate with the smart servos. It is also a useful tool to split the LSS bus from one servo to two or three while allowing these ports to be powered separately. The adapter is meant to be mounted directly to the servos. For more information regarding the pinout, how to connect the servos and the LSS servo's electronics, refer to the LSS - Electrical page. When purchasing Lynxmotion serial cables, the user does not need to worry about any modifications as all the pins and wires are correct, however, should the LSS be connected to non-Lynxmotion products such as a microcontroller, be certain to understand the pinout before making any connections. Wire Routing In a robotic creation, keeping the wires as clean as possible helps ensure they do not get snagged internally or externally. Many V2 brackets include slots where plastic cable clips can be installed in order to more cleanly and securely rout wires. When wiring a custom robotic creation, ensure there is enough slack in the wires to allow for the full range of motion at each joint, and so they do not get snagged. Each clip only allows passage of one 4-wire cable. Straight vs. Y Serial Cables Straight serial cables are used to daisy chain multiple LSS servos / modules one after the next. However, with a limit of 3A per cable, additional power may need to be applied and as such, a Y-harness and Power Hub are needed (change the jumper on the Power Hub). A Y-harness can also be used to daisy chain servos when one side of the servo is blocked. The fourth connector (from the servo's Tx pin) is separate. Should additional length be needed, a standard 3-pin servo extension (male to female) cable can be used. Lynxmotion Smart Servo (LSS) - Serial Y Cables Lynxmotion SKU: 100mm / 150mm / 200mm / 300mm LSS-C-100-Y Plastic Cable Clip Clip intended to be mounted to SES V2 brackets to help with wire routing. Magnets are meant to attach external shells. Magnets for the Cable Clip Small magnet used Extra Long Stacking Headers These extra long stacking headers are intended to be use with the LSS Adapter and fit through the board.
